Back from a summer of building
Now THAT WAS A SUMMER!! As many of you may have noticed, I’ve been incommunicado on this blog for the last few months. Lots of good stuff happening, lots of changes, and profit models are growing. I’ll be breaking down in future posts all the interesting stuff that has been going on and disecting each piece as there were some valuable business lessons in there for me and in turn, for you.
- Lullaby League has a new web presence and is currently bringing licensees into the model. We have some excellent candidates in the Northwest and the Midwest. If you know of any women looking to get involved in a turn-key business model, have them have a look at this one.
- Flett Ventures has created a Joint Venture with the Momcafe Network to build out their model. Both Tasha and Jill (the owners of the momcafe) have been very easy to work with and we’ve welcomed three new licensees into the fold in the last six weeks (Prince George, Kelowna, and Ottawa). Like Lullaby League, this model is available to license and has a pretty attractive profit model.
- A long-term member of the Ghost CEO team has decided to go out on her own. It was time for her to make an adjustment and there will be more on this as the process was filled with a lot of revelations on how to build a team over time and when to part ways when fundamental beliefs don’t align. Overall, everyone involved is very happy with the adjustment so all is good.
- I had a run in with a lawyer representing another party and realized that no matter what level the professional, they can fall into emotional situations where they walk the fine line of professionalism. Unexpected, but a good lesson for everyone. If you can’t separate business from personal, you may find yourself in a very difficult situation. I’ll be offering a business case on this so that you can see how things can go sideways for someone who forgets that business isn’t personal.
- Pierre Piche, a summer student that I had 10 years ago in Think Tank Communications, has joined the Ghost CEO team and is servicing the Okanagan market. He brings a lot of marketing experience and business building skills and we are happy to have him as part of the family.
- The Ghost CEO has enjoyed working with the group from the FWE (Forum for Women Entrepreneurs) e-Series graduates. These women are fantastic and the program puts a sharp edge on already impressive business models.
- We are stating to make the Ghost CEO available as a corporate license to some of our corporate clients. They can now have their internal trainers licensed to deliver our proprietary tools in-house. It will expand the reach of our work and something we are all quite excited about adding into the mix. Official launch is just days away.
- Flett Ventures got a corporate paint job. The new site focuses more on our strategic work. Paul Rovers at Leveraged Business Solutions did the web work for all the companies and did a good job.
- I’ve been planning a trip to the East Coast of the US to do a handful of speaking gigs and to find new Ghost CEO coaches to service the east coast market. If you know of anyone that has been thinking of getting into business coaching (not personal coaching), have them drop us a note.
- We are launching Coach’s Corner in Vancouver and soon in Seattle. Once a month we will have a coach in a location and anyone is welcome to come and chat about business, but space is limited so numbers will be set on how many each month. These events will be promoted on Twitter and Facebook first and then in our newsletter (which we’ve been doing a shitty job of getting out on a regular basis -but we will try harder).
- Finally, make sure to check out our facebook page for Ghost CEO. We are committed to putting some free tools up there for people following us. We are trying to once a month and tools will alternate between those for entrepreneurs and those for career professionals. Keep an eye on facebook or twitter (@ghostceo). We are trying to plan a private screening for Wall Street 2 in Vancouver.
How was your summer?
